Social Networking and Our Online Conferences

When John & I were talking about how many people that have registered for Working with Children and Young People Conference, we realized most of these tickets were booked though information sent though social networks.

We have been Tweeting & posting on FB about the conference.  Already we have 29 people registered for the venue and 12 people registered online.  

We are very excited to have met presenters from Creating a Change online.  As our conferences will be streamed LIVE online its very exciting to see the interaction from the very start, the organizing the planning and the talk about the conference all happening online.

We are really excited about this as Onlinevents works online,  we know how connected we are, even though we work from different locations.  

There are so many great things ahead for Onlinevents and lots of social networking too!

Recovery Conference

We were very pleased to be part of Simpson House Recover Conference on 2nd June 2012.   The conference was streamed live from our website www.onlinevents.co.uk We had 22 people joining in online.  As we have a chatroom, this allows them to chat to each other, but also to be involved in the venue discussion also. 

There were a few technical issues at the start of the conference, but within no time we were off to a great start at 10AM. 


When the delegates in the venue spent time discussing the workshop tasks, our online audience also took part and gave their views and comments to the workshop facilitator who shared them with the audience.  The workshop facilitator also spent some time to type into the chat room the task set out.



Refreshments

For those who were at the venue, they were enjoying a nice ice-lolly for break.  Online delegates needed to provide their own refreshments :) 

We also were joined by Sibling Support in the chat room.  Based in Australia, their contribution to the conference was their Video, played to delegates online and in the venue.  We were very moved to be sharing such important resources and feeling so connected even though we were miles apart geographically

As you can imagine there was a lot of social networking going on also during the conference.  We used many different #hashtags to tweet about the conference.  Often this is a very exciting part of having a conference being streamed online.

At the end of the conference Glenn from Simpson House summarised what will be taken from this conference discussion and the exciting things ahead, thanking everyone involved.

Sponsor Seating Plan

As our next events approach, we are trying a new way to sponsor the conferences allowing delegates to attend for FREE.   We are encouraging organisations to sponsor a seat at our conference in return for their logo to be added to the seating plan, advertising on the venue & online programme along with adverts on the live streaming page.

You can see form the picture some seats already sponsored.  This is an example of the sponsors for Working With Children & Young People Conference  Some seats have already been sponsored by Manchester Institute for psychotherapy kindly sponsoring the first 41 seats.

We feel excited about enabling people to join in at very low cost to themselves, travel, food & accommodation for example.  In this time of economic difficulty, it allows delegates to have a taste of what is available without having to eat into funds needed to attend other conferences.

For every seat that is sponsored, we make available a new seat.  Also for every CPD certificate that is purchased, again a seat becomes available.  As the event will also be streamed online at the same time, this allows delegates from all over the world and anyone who cannot travel to Scotland, to join in and participate.

We already have speakers planned for this conference, and will be on the way to making sure we have 6 speakers on the programme.
